Terms of Use

These terms set the conditions for using San Bernardino Residents Directory. Accessing or using the service means you accept them. If you disagree, do not use the service.

1. What This Website Is

San Bernardino Residents Directory is a private reference service. It describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and directory collections concerning people who live or lived in San Bernardino, California. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with an office, court, library, or records custodian.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use the service only in a lawful way. You may not use it, or information reached through it, to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft or fraud
  • Make FCRA-regulated decisions involving credit, employment, housing, or insurance
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the site's content at scale
  • Interfere with the site's operation or security

3. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

This service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. section 1681 et seq. Nothing here, and nothing returned by a linked search tool, is a consumer report. It may not be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose covered by the FCRA.

4. Links to Outside Sites

Government portals and outside services, including sponsored search tools, operate under their own terms and policies. San Bernardino Residents Directory does not control their content, availability, charges, or data practices.

5. No Warranties

The service is offered "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind. No promise is made that a page is accurate, complete, or current, or that an external portal will work or return a correct result.

6. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of this service or a linked resource, including a decision based on a record reached through it.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold the operators harmless from claims or demands, including reasonable attorneys' fees, that arise from your misuse of the service or breach of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The site's original writing, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a short attributed excerpt is welcome; reproducing full pages or copying the content systematically is not.

9. Changes to These Terms

A revised version may be posted here at any time. Continued use after the change means that the updated terms are accepted.

10. Cutting Off Access

Access may be blocked or limited for a user who violates these terms or abuses the service, at the operators' discretion and without advance notice.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by California law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Public-record references are informed by the California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000-7931.000, but the Act does not make this private reference a records custodian.

12. Severability

If a court finds one part of these terms unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.

13. Questions

Questions about these terms may be sent through the Contact page.
